Hi, I'm Mike Nicholson. I teach
electric guitar, acoustic guitar, drums, bass guitar and mando. I teach
at Vista Point Studio. I also give instruction in songwriting/compostion and music theory. If you're looking to learn how to play
or a related style, I can help you. Classical, shredder metal, and jazz, on the other hand, are not my thing. Regardless of what you're looking for, here are few things to consider when selecting a teacher. I have been playing guitar since 1976 and teaching students since 1982. My performing career has taken me all over the South and up and down the East Coast as well as to Europe. I have always been active both as a recording and live-performance musician and remain so to this day (I currently rock out with The Blusterfields,and have played with such artists as Grant Hart (Hüsker Dü), The Doleful Lions, The X-Rayons, Stratocruiser, Bullwinkel Gandhi and many more. Music is not just something I do. It's integral to who I am. I live and breathe music. It has enriched my life and brought me great rewards and pleasure. I love to play and I love to teach. Sharing my knowledge of music-its mysteries, sounds, and emotions-with my students is a truly fulfilling and enjoyable experience. I have a wonderful cadre of students and pride myself on student retention and progression. I stress fundamentals, technique, rhythm, ear training, theory,improvisation, and creativity.
